Net is adjusted migration, combining migration in and migration out. "Net in" means the country has more people migrating in than out, and "net out" means the reverse is true. It could also be used more generally, giving a net migration in or net migration out for a country, whether it's negative or positive.

net migration basically means, migration after all factors.

so 'net migration in' means IF 100 people entered, but 20 left, the net migration in is = 80 (100 - 20)

conversely if 200 people left, and 200 people entered your net migration out would be = 0.

FYI these numbers can be negative.

Hope this helps you.

I take this course also. I am currently taking the AP Human Geography. We are in migration part of the book. In migration, net in means the factors affecting the number of people coming into a country. It would be the opposite of that if it was net out migration.

A negative migration means more people are leaving than coming.
