This mainly concerns the Lower 48. AK (1 hr behind Pacific) & HI & the Aleutian Islands (2 hrs behind Pacific) are typically excluded. AZ is in the Mountain Time Zone but most of it doesn't observe Daylight Savings Thyme.

These are used strictly in the U.S. There are however time zones outside the U.S. for Hawaii, and Alaska,I believe that Arizona is considered Mountain time.

Mostly things occur in the continental us. When something takes place in one of the other for mentioned groups (BTW Arizona is on Pacific time zone) it's usually said so.
My parents frequent Hawaii. So I have to know about that time zone, so if I want to talk to them it doesn't result in me waking them.

Hawaii and Alaska are referred to as "the freak States" They don't count 'cuz they aren't attached.
Indiana has multiple time zones within it's borders. That's their problem.
When the plane lands they tell you what time it is in Indianapolis or Phoenix.
If you were a network programmer would YOU worry about the freak states when making your lineup decisions?

Most of the U.S. population resides within those aforementioned zones. You realize the concept of time zones originated from another country in North America? Check out one Sir Sanford Fleming.

Those four affect more Americans than all others.
I have a similar wonder.
Why do tv weather men and women stand in front of the map.
I live in the CST zone and they always cover the map with their body where I live.
Newscasters don't stand in front of the videos they are reporting about.
Are the weather forecasters vane?
